!CONGRAT'S TO DARRYN DURHAM AT MILLVALE - FINISHING WITH A 9TH OVER-ALL. TOTALLY AWESOME!
Beautiful weather and great racing at Steel City. Just wasn't sure what to expect as we pulled in. The ProAm racing generally brings in a good number of riders from all around the area. But todays race was also up against a big purse race at OIR in Ohio. So who was going where was yet to be seen. The pits from the main gate looked good but just alittle thin for a normal PAMX race at SC. Practice was in full force and the track had that nice dark look about it...... yes no dust. Looking for a place to park we found a good spot next to Shuckharts and Ruckers. It was good to see Shuckharts for they had been on a beach vacation the past week and not sure which way they were going for todays racing. Dee always makes me smile, so it was going to be a good day. It amazes me to watch both the Shuckhart boys ride, they have such a similar style about them. Of course I get all emotional with Bobby seeing him riding, it's a step back to the past and the admiration that Aaron had of Bobby and the other riders of that time. They were indeed the ones to recon with out on the track. * This is totally amazing.... thinking about the riders from the past (Bradley, Gerth, Hepler, Stull) and I get a phone call from Butch Bradley about Brandon. WOW Brandon had his operation yesterday on putting a plate back on Brandon's skull yesterday down in Morgantown, Ruby Hospital. Brandon's night was restless but Butch said that he is doing better this morning. Brandon still has his trac still placed in his throat which causes complications but he is coming along. Please everyone keep the Bradley's in your thoughts and prayers. Such love there......
The A Classes with it being a Pro Am race had the track all to themselves. YES, Yes, Yes!... Why can't that be the norm on any Sunday race. They are the fastest group out on the track, so their moto's are done quickly. They really are the show, they race for money........ so lets keep the A classes by them selves. As the riders progress in their abilities over the many years I would say that they deserve the track to themselves. That way the spectators and photographers can see more of all of the riders out on the track. (okay this is a pet peve of mine, keeping the A Class and B Class seperate)
Many of the classes were small compared to a regular race day but they had some great match ups. I was surprised that they had the down hill and the "Sky Coaster" closed off for the race. But then again they had the new section open on the other end of the track. I have seen races determined on that down hill and who was going to brake first or end up on the outside. Also the sky coaster has always been that goal to the riders on how to take it and when. So I missed that section..... the one that you hold your breath on as the riders go thru. I can't say that I saw a lot of yellow flags thru out the day, with the dirt dry it looked slippery on those turns, but some great ruts were available. Field of Dreams this coming Sunday. We have not been that way and are looking forward to seeing the Berkeys. Have a great week, Kris and I will try and get all of the classes up that we can. Stay safe!
