~ INTENSE RACING OUT AT THE POINT ~

LORETTA LYNNS NORTHEAST AMATEUR REGIONAL - HIGH POINT, MT MORRIS PA.
Battles were fought between some of the best amateurs riders at High Point. Riders from all around the east coast were in attendance and some came as far as Texas. Three motos of each class determined who is going to "The Big Dance" at Loretta Lynns Ranch in August.
The gates in all classes were full of top riders. B & C classes had divisions with consi's to get to the main. Friday was a very intense day with moto after moto going off with no one leaving the spectating area in fear of missing the great action.
If you like to watch the big bikes these past two days would have been heaven for you. The only problem is that you don't want to leave the track. You look at the moto order and see that each moto is followed by another great class of riders. It really is exhilarating and takes the energy right out of you. Then add in the level of talent in all of the riders and you are at a down scaled Loretta Lynns. All of these riders have qualified to be here and know what they have to do to finish toward the top to get that chance at Lorettas. That means great racing in all classes. From the 4 stroke class to the +50, all great riders. Timmy Coombs came out on his BLACK HONDA..... Darth Vader..... got off the gate and took the lead in the Sr + 45. Finishing all three motos and is heading for Lorettas.
The dedication of these riders goes beyound the norm. We had riders with injuries that would have kept the everyday rider out, but not here at regionals. The riders here knew what was ahead of them and they knew what they had to do to reach their goals. Michael McDade was in there each moto with a bad injury to his leg, but one would not have noticed it other than his hobbling around. Davey Yezek was injured last weekend on Amateur day at HP after the Nationals. He took a very hard fall and was ran over. Damage to his back and ribs (BIG scare too all around). Davey was out there in his +25 class riding amazingly all 3 motos, he to is heading to the ranch. Ryan Boyer was heading to the ranch but took a VERY hard fall over in the new rhythm section. He was down for a long time and taken off on the board. Ryan chose not to go to the hospital but felt he could stay and finish off his 3rd moto in his class. His wrist was throbbing and had ice on his back. His mind thought was that he can do this but over night and the major ache showed that it was not to be this year. Ryan needed to take care of his injuries, no need to bring on any more serious injury. Hats off to your desire Ryan...
Brian Shuckhart out on that 2 stroke, brought on the amazement of riders that don't know our Brian and his abilities. He may not have had the fastest lap times, but he truly was the hightlight of the weekend and took his motos right up in front. Great riding Brian. I thought that we were going to meet up close and personnal on that up hill double when you took alittle ride off the track. WOW, that was exciting! There were many great match ups, Coombs and Niebel, Shuckhart and Spangler, Shuckhart and Futrell, McDade was in there with everyone, Michael Sigmund was back doing well in the +25 class with Keith Johnson. David Grimes right up there in front of his B classes and Dad also made it in his class to take the trip with David to Tennessee. Good racing and great people.
As for galleries this week, I'm not sure what I am going to do. We had lots of rider there and I have the pictures. But not sure how to get them up. I may make galleries of hightlights of the classes. So stay tuned. Our area riders will be in force at Loretta Lynns this year, congrats to all for their hard work and dedication. So the hard work gets even harder as the weeks get closer to August. STAY HEALTHY! Watch those trips thru the woods..... etc.....

Kristin has pictures up on her page, be sure you check them out.
