~ R & D RACEWAY - MAY 31 ~

~ HIGH POINT - HIGH POINT - HIGH POINT ~
Week of High Point National - Many of our families of this area are getting prepared for the big 3 days at the "Point". I can't imagine what it must be like for the Shuckhart, Ritter, Phillips, Holt families in getting their rider ready for qualifing. (I know that I will have more names of our riders when the list comes out) It has to be a very nerve racking ordeal. It will also be good to have Darryn Durham back at home to race at High Point a track that he knows like the back of his hand. Great talent heading to High Point.
(I am still getting caught up on galleries of past races, so check out the list - ALL DONE)
~ BAD NEWS FROM RED BUD ~
Matt Toth has broken his arm and the ball socKet in his shoulder. He will be getting surgery. Kristin got a hold of Sarah this morning after looking at yesterdays results and saw that something must have happen to Matt. Such very sad news of this very impressive young rider. Matt I am going to miss you out on the track, but we hope to see you guys at the races as you recover. We will update as we receive word on how Matt is doing. Monday update on Matt - Received news that Matt will be having his surgery tomorrow,(Tuesday). Sarah says that they will be at High Point this weekend, Matt doesn't want to miss anything. Best of luck tomorrow Matt, we will be thinking about you.

IF YOU THINK THAT YOU MAY NEED ANY OF THOSE PHOTOS NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO COPY AND PASTE THEM OR JUST WRITE DOWN THE RACE/NUMBER/GALLERY OF THE PICTURES AND I CAN STILL GET THEM TO YOU.
OLDER GALLERIES START BACK ON PAGE 15 - STARTING WITH EARLY PVR RACES APRIL 08

~ GREAT DAY AT R&D ~
R&D Raceway, Bentleyville - May 31, 2009
What a wonderful day I had at R&D. Being a creature of habit, I fear the unknown. Getting ready for Sundays events I go thru some of the same chores & rituals that the family's and riders go thru to be prepared for the race day. Of course it is on a much smaller scale but still one that if I didn't get it done I would be stressed and off my normal stress of the day. My bike is my camera (and now Jerry's camera to get ready). No gas or large maintenance procedures, but the battery needs charging, the photo cards need to be cleared off for the new shots. My tear offs are actually lens cloths for the camera lens. I need my blistex for the lips on windy days. I make sure that I have stickers with me that I generally fumble around to find when ask for and a bottle of water that I generally forget and leave at the truck. With all of these things ready to go we set off for the days events. That takes me back to my first trip to R&D. Totally relying on inputs from others on to what I will be doing. The unknown stresses me on how I am going to take pictures of the riders that I love. Where will I stand, how will I be able to take that shot that a rider can have to get another feel of his race. Will I get in someone's way or get scolded on being somewhere that I shouldn't be. Over the years I have become comfortable on where I go and also know that most of the track crews know that I shouldn't be a problem. Well none of that was at R&D for me today. My first sight was the riders that set my comfort zone to there's my family. We are all here and anticipating the day. I got to meet Denise & Randy Powell who in their busy day made all welcome to their track. (Thank You Mimi for the introductions) My next big step was going out to the infield of the track. AWESOME, wow what a place to take pictures. I couldn't get around fast enough to the many areas. The maintenance area around the actual track was wide and accessible for the turns and jumps. Felt right at home, and ready for the riders. A few of the bowl turns and back section reminded me so much of my sons practice track. Having Broc Streit doing the big double along the back woods section and giving me the "LOOK" was incredible.
My thanks to the Powell's for being so gracious and also for the hard work that was put in to make their tack the best for the riders. I hope that with the many pictures (of course I took too many) that was taken I can show what a talented group of riders and also what a great caring track promoter the Powell's are. It's all about the rider! As always you riders are totally awesome, thank you for allowing us to be apart of your lives. Always In Memory of Aaron #98, Arlene
P. S. - So good to see Chad Boyd at the track visiting. You look awesome Chad, we have missed you and your family. Good to hear that your rehabilitation has good well and that you will be taking up some riding in the near future. Take care and hope to see Chad more often, we miss him on that gate. (thank you Tom Burnsworth for getting Chad to the track)
