~ TOM BURNSWORTH #72X - OPEN B CLASS INJURED AT PRACTICE ~

FRIDAY UPDATE ON TOM FROM MARK MILLS - I just got back from visiting Tom at the hospital. He was in good spirits and already optimistic about getting back on a motorcycle. They ended up holding off the surgery until tomorrow morning for some reason. I believe in the surgery they are taking part of his hip bone to replace the vertabrae in his neck.

THURSDAY - MAY 7, 09
Just received word from Mark Mills that Tom Burnsworth was injured at practice this evening and has received injuries that have taken him to UPMC for treatment. Best thoughts and prayers go out for Tom this evening.

~ PLEASURE VALLEY RACEWAY ~
Rain was scheduled to be apart of the day at PVR, but most of us had it arriving in the PM. As we left home for PVR the rain showers had already started and stayed with us to the track. Nothing heavy but it had already arrived. When pulling in to the track practice was moving along, the moto order was up and the day began. Of course the umbrellas were out, baggies were worn by some riders, that extra sweatshirt wore over the gear was seen thru out staging. The brooms down at the gate had a lot more to move around and for me the challenge to hold my umbrella or camera protection to get the pictures that I must get. The track were I was standing didn't seem to be water filled, but I'm not a rider and seeing all of the track. The jumps of course looked very slick and the little 50's started from under the bridge instead of trying to take on the start hill. (remember lasts years states race..... heavy rain and MUCH mud... it wasn't like that at all today) The A & B classes of the MX Lites started off the day with a bang. Six A riders and twenty B. And did it ever set the tone of the quality of racing that was seen thru out the day. Shuckhart and Willard didn't hesitate to take on the track and battle it out in each moto that they had together. Shuckhart took 1st in the Lites were Willard took 1st in the Open A. Totally awesome racing. Slusser took Willard on in the 4 stroke and keeping the pace thru out both motos with Willard taking 1st in both. The intensity of great style of racing was overwhelming with these riders today...
All of the classes had this quality of riding right down to the classes with Luhovey and Papi.... so the showers did not deminish any in the different classes. So if you were not there you missed a great day of racing. The showers finally came to a close toward the end of the first round of motos and the rest of the day was alittle warmer and dryer.
Picture taking was a challenge and many came out with that blurr that I really don't like. The sun just didn't co-operate much today. Still I had so many to look at last night and again was amazed at you the riders and the difficult task of just choosing a few for this main page. Kristin will be getting her page together today so check in there later. And then the galleries will follow. I still have a few motos to put up from last weeks race at Steel City.... oh dear I'm behind already.... smile so hang in there with Kris and I it's quite a involved process to get them up. Thank you to all of the riders and parents you truly make my day and week ..... so many smiles and just watching your efforts and dedication in what you do overwhelms me each week. Have a great week and I'm looking forward to our first trip of the season this coming week end to High Point, the nearest place to heaven and my Aaron.
