Mark Stephens

Mark A. Stephens
New Freeport resident was motocross racer.

Mark A. Stephens, 18, of Jolly Road, New Freeport, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003 of injuries received during an arenacross motorcycle race at the Greene County Fairgrounds, Waynesburg PA.

He was born July 12, 1984, in Washington, a son of Joseph V. and Veronica Jean Stephens of New Freeport, PA.

Mr. Stephens was a 2002 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School and a graduate in auto mechanics from the Greene County Vocational-Technical School.

He was a member of the American Motorcyclist Association. For the past eight years, Mark was a motocross racer and was going to turn professional in two weeks at a race in Harrisburg.

Mr. Stephens worked for Monroe Muffler in Bridgeville.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandmother, Delores Stephens of Duncansville, PA; Brothers, Daniel and William Stephens, both at home; Joseph Stephens of Allentown and Christopher of Alaska; and several aunts and uncles.
