~ SUNDAY, AUGUST, 28, 2011 ~ ~GREAT UPDATE ON SHAYNE THOMAS~ Hello, Hope you are doing well. I have wonderful news to spread! Shayne has been off the ventilator for almost a week now, and has moved facilities. He is currently in HealthSouth Harmarville, which is a spinal cord rehabilitation unit near Fox Chapel, PA. He has been there for four days now, in room 104. He would love to see visitors- visiting hours 10:30 am to 8:30 pm. They do physical and occupational therapy for many hours a day with him, and he will be having his trach removed tomorrow. If anyone would like to speak with him, we are doing webcams for people because it really keeps his spirits up! Also, if anyone would like to send a card or a little gift, he could use t-shirts, because he is being dressed every morning. His address is: HealthSouth Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital Attn: Shayne Thomas Room 104 320 Guys Road Pittsburgh, PA 15238 Thanks for your love and prayers, Jessica Auld Thank you Jessica for the great update...
~ BROC STREIT & MITCH LEHMAN ~
Awesome Saturday & Sunday Kristin and Bryan were down for a visit. Steaks and ribs on the BBQ with them, Jennifer and Pat. Great time. Kristin also got me up todate on Broc Streit and Mitch Lehman. First of all Broc, I am so sorry to hear of your injuries. I had no idea until last night. I can't believe what happened to you, and I didn't know. After the last A Moto last weekend and the storm coming in we left. No news came of your crash till last night. I do hope that you are doing better. Sounds like a bad one for you. Take care dear "FRIEND". Kristin also told me that Mitch Lehman was in a very bad motocycle wreck. She saidy that he is still in the hospital. I do not have any more information that that. From what Kris said was that some one was messing with him after a night at a club and they were responsible for his crash. Mitch get well soon!

~ PLEASURE VALLEY RACEWAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2011 ~** A few days have past since PVR on Sunday. It was very good to see so many good friends and watching some great racing. It's always good to go to a big event like Loretta's and its always good to come home. The day held some good moments for me. Jerry and I got there alittle late and missed the first couple moto's. The first moto of the 250A was going off the gate. I was hurring up getting to a good position and coming thru the tunnel ran into a bright smile from a familar face. This face I haven't seen at local races for a long time. I remember this face way back in 1997 at Brownsville racing and taking my breath away with such talent. It didn't take much for me to get hooked waching him race. Aaron was in awe of his riding, he would be at the fence watching his every moto. As time continued this rider went right to the top with his remarkable talent. Aaron would have loved being at Steel City when he won that National. So good to see Broc Hepler at PVR cheering on his good friend Joey. Seeing his big smile and getting a hug took me back quite a few years. Thank you Broc for so many good memories. It was also very good to see Ashlee Woskob back on a bike and riding well. Mike McDade out in the A Classes after his riding at Unidilla and becoming a new father to a beautiful baby boy.

Shayne Thomas Update ; The vent is gone !!!!!!! outta here , bye bye :) he has done soooo good they took it out of his room , working to breathing room air from his mouth , but wont happen over night , things take time , but that was awesome today !!... (8-25)
Great to hear of Shayne's progress. Thank you Stephanie for the updates! Keep moving forward Shane!
The following information is of Shayne Thomas who he and his son Chris raced with us many years in the Old D5 times. Both Shayne and Chris rode with the #599. Shayne was in the Vet C class and did very well. Most personnal person is Shayne and would do anything for anyone. His son had a bad injury that pretty much took him off the bike and Chris started to do videos of the races. With other committments we haven't seen Shayne and Chris racing but many great memories of them from Sunday to Sunday. He is in great need at this time and anything that you can do for him would be greatly appreciated. I know when we lost our Aaron the MX community was and still is our biggest support. What a wonderful family we have in our MX friends. // Shayne is at Allegheny General, 7th Floor and room 731.//
The following is an e-mail from Shaynes friend, Jessica Auld.
My name is Jessica Auld, and I have become very close to Shayne Thomas in the past year. I’m not sure if you remember him or not, but he talked about you quite a bit. Unfortunately, on July 23, 2011 Shayne suffered a spinal cord injury from jumping into a pool. He has been in Allegheny General Hospital since the accident, and will be moving to a spinal cord rehabilitation soon. He has been on a ventilator and feeding tube since the accident as well, but they are trying to wean him off the ventilator as we speak. He has had no movement from the armpit down as well, but the doctors will not pronounce what the future holds yet so we are keeping faith. He told me to contact you so I could maybe get a contact list of riders or if you could pass this message on about what happened. We ask for everyone’s prayers, and also passing on the message about his benefit bike run, and also if there is anything you think we could do for this cause. I will attach a flyer for his benefit bike run, and also a picture of him. Thank you, Jessica Auld

As information comes from Jessica I will update. Get well Shayne!
Jimmy had 3 great moto's in the +25 Class. Competitors at the highest levels and the racing was awesome! Saturdays moto was fantastic. Jimmy got a great start off the gates and held it down right thru the "Holeshot Banner". They were the first moto on Saturday, track was fresh with moisture and grooming. It was alittle cloudy and the lighting wasn't that good for me but still caught some good shots of hole shot and race between the tough competition. Jimmy held a good 3rd with a 2nd over all in the +25 Class. Great racing Jimmy and congratulation for all of your and Homer's efforts.
It's been nearly a week since the last moto went off at Loretta's. Back to work in full swing and still trying to get caught up in all things. Think about last week a lot and the great people that are involved in it's daily program. I HOPE to get more put together this weekend, thank you all for your patience. My body has not yet gotten back to my "Normal" way. Have a great day everyone and stay safe... Ty Newcome is on his way to "Dilla"... Best of racing there Ty. "GO DOUBLE D". We will all be watching!

Have to get the others off my lap top.... so hang in there... :)
Okay, it's been rough here. I don't even want to complain or actually I shouldn't complain. I'm not the one on a bike for 20 minutes or so in this heat and humidity. Let alone sitting in staging and then the gate. THESE RIDERS ARE INCREDIBLE. If you haven't been to Loretta's before I can't tell you how hard it is for all of these riders. Take a normal Sunday race in the heat and double it.... no triple those conditions and that's Loretta's. Then add the other 40 riders, the best of the best on both sides of you... STRESS..... and yeah..... Okay, just wanted to give you the facts. It was near 100 today with humidity that made it hard to breathe. The am races where pretty good. Not too hard to handle. Of course I am talking about me out on the track. Lets see, I took with me, 3 bottles of water, one gatorade, 20 wipes for my face and yes my camera. It was beautiful out there. Track was in great condition. All of the sand that they had put down on Monday very much worked in. I did however have trouble with bike numbers. The moist ground (and they do that in between every moto) covers the front number plate and makes it harder to spot your rider coming at you. Unless you got the hole shot. But it generally works out with in the 20 minutes of racing to capture a shot or two of the rider. Tuesday had good andnot so good moments. First I have to say to Timmy Crosby, hope that your pain is changing for the better. Timmy went down hard in practice on Monday and another rider went over his back. Timmy has major back burns and swelling. That didn't stop Timmy going out for his first class on Tuesday. Amazing young fellow. I believe I held my breathe the whole time he was out there for I knew he had to be in major pain. Timmy finished that moto but has pulled his self out of the rest of the classes. Timmy you are one strong young man. Please get well soon, and you will get them next year, no doubt! Ray Niebel had a great race going and made a move to take another spot and went down in his +45 class. Jimmy Evans had a great +25 race and placed a 2nd and received a silver for that. Jeff Christopher made the list and had his first ride at LL. It was so great to see the Great White Helmet out on the track. Staying up and pressing forward to the checkers. So many great moto's yesterday.
Now for Wednesday. Started out great, had plenty of time getting ready... had the front desk give us a wake up call. That's another story for a nother day. Had my biscuit and gravey from Arby's. So GOOD. Coffee from Pilot and off to the track. We didn't have anyone in the first 7:30 class so no pressure in getting things together and down to the track. A lot of the younger classes today which seems to take longer but doesn't. The heat started around 10:30 - 11:00. Was nearly unbearable around 2:00. The had 2 intermissions today and the one that got me was before the Open Pro Sport Class at 3:30. I had been finding any shade that I could and hopefully something to sit down on between motos and during the actual races. I just wanted to get thru the day. The Pro class then Raeslee Weimers women classand Ray Niebels moto. I had to see those. Well, the waiting for the Pro Class did me in! I bearly made watching Dylan Slusser do an awesome job moving up thru the pack and finishing 13 or 14th. Bernie was down in the area I was taking pictures in with his vehicle. Oh YES! Please take me with you when you go back to your pits.. I just couldn't do it any more. Sick to my stomach and a little dizzy. Just the thought of the walk that I was going to have to make scared me some. But Bernie to the rescue. THANK YOU BERNIE! I do not know how those motos turned out but I do hope that all of the riders are well. It was so hard to breathe, I can't even imagine how they can ride. I have some Tuesday pictures to put up and hopefully some from today. Jerry has done a great job down in staging.

~ TAYLOR LEVIC ~ (sorry Raeslee, I'm always getting you two mixed up.... old age and toooooo much heat do not mix... :)
Everything starts on time at Loretta's. If you are not down in staging or on the gate you will miss your motos and your practice. Moto's and practice run on time and today was no difference. Good practice, too long for many riders. Tomorrow is the big day... Lots of hard work and dedication from the rider and their families no matter how old they are. Joey Deneen and Stephen Gretchen will be starting things off and I will be there to capture their quest. Tired tonight and need to sleep. Keeping up with both blogs is going to be my quest this week...

Great day at Loretta Lynn's. Weather is warm, good breeze going. The creek was full with swimmers and the riders were getting registered and picking up their bibs. New tires being put on bike and some last minute preparations before tomorrows practice gets under way. Some still pulling into the park looking for that spot to spend the week at. Lots of great visiting with many friends from home. So good to see many of our riders her at LL.
