~ AARON GONE FOURTEEN YEARS ~
~ CATCHING UP ON SOME 2014 RACES ~
~ AARON WILLIAM LANTZER - MARCH 11, 2015 ~
FOURTEEN YEARS GONE! NEVER FORGOTTEN â€" AARON OH HOW I LOVE THE NAME!
SPRING IS HERE â€" well let’s say the beginning of Spring. Sprung ahead with the clocks this morning, as Kristin would say stole an hour of her sleep. So the morning is still a little darker but hey we will have more sun in the evening. I wonder if the cows were told of the time change…..
It has been another challenging winter for the Lantzer’s. Actually everyone that lives on the East Coast has had a belly full of winter and we all want it gone. Too much snow and extreme cold temperatures, frozen water lines are always a problem here on the hill. With the wonderful pellet stove put in our house we have had the warmest winter ever here in our home. Thank you J & J Mechanical Industries â€" the wonderful group of the Liston’s and Christopher. Instead of caring firewood all winter just had to walk in bags of pellets â€" AWESOME!
Jerry’s challenge has been going well with the new prosthesis. He is taking one day at a time getting the important balance that he needs. The snow and cold outside has kept him in but the desire of getting outside very real. He will be ready for our first race at PVR for sure.
Another winter and another year that Aaron has been gone. How can I express this fourteenth year of his leaving? I can go back and tell you of his 14 years here with us, finishing up his 8th grade at West Greene Middle Senior/High School. Aaron was looking forward in Spring Baseball with his buddies, riding his dirt bike around the house and searching with his Dad any MX race coming up at High Point Raceway. There were motocross magazines everywhere and Auto trader magazines on every trip to the store. All was normal, Aaron tormenting his younger sister Kristin and keeping close to his older sister Jennifer. Best friend Nathan always nearby for getting thru the day at school and the video games that they played for hours. Yes, life was good. That was in Aaron’s 14th year with us.
Our lives were forever changed on March 10, 2001 at 11:45 PM on a Saturday night.
Aaron just 2 months away from his 21st birthday had a nice evening with girlfriend and friends at Texas Roadhouse in Morgantown. Aaron and Mindy were heading home to get prepared to go riding the next day at Tom’s track for an early spring ride. Jerry was home and Kristin and I were at Hershey for the PIAA Wrestling Championships. We would not be home till around noon the next day. As Aaron was coming thru town a person who had been drinking all day and had just left a local bar hit Aaron & Mindy at a high rate of speed head on. All involved were life flighted to Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital. Our Aaron passed away around 5:45 AM March 11, 2001. FOURTEEN YEARS AGO â€" to me it was just a moment ago, fourteen years.
Time does not heal the loss of Aaron, only adds memories that we have made with his absence. The memories of him always with us, those will never change and they get more precious with every passing year. Time does throw in our faces what we our missing in watching others with families of their own. Watching him grow with his sisters and sharing each other.
I heard this song that Kenney Chesney wrote â€" Who’d You Be Today - and it blew me away. For I wonder what would my Aaron be like today. Would he have a family with children? I know the he would be here to help his father right along with his big sister Jennifer. I know that even with him older I would still be getting hugs and those looks of where is the food Mom. Aaron would love Kristin and her wonderful Husband. He would like being with Bryan and he would be teasing Pat to death. I can only dream of what it would be like, just know that it would be wonderful.
This has been a hard week, for the month of March comes in with a heavy heart â€" let alone the tough month that we all have just gone through. Fourteen years Aaron, even with the reality that you won’t be coming thru my door I still have that desire that it would happen. My prayers say God, please let me dream of Aaron tonight, but the dreams are few, but keep hoping for them. We love you Aaron, you are part of all of our days forever.
PLEASED DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE â€" DON’T TAKE THAT LAST DRINK AND THINK THAT IT WIL BE OKAY AND YOU CAN DRIVE â€" SPEAK UP TO THE DRIVER THAT IS DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUNCE - IS ALCOHOL THAT SO IMPORTANT THAT COULD POSSIBILY TAKE A LIFE â€" DRINK AT HOME, DON’T TAKE THAT CHANCE. I would take a buzz looking at my boy, hearing his voice, than just having a drink for an empty buzz …

PAMX BANQUET 2014
The 2014 PAMX Banquet was held last night in Johnstown at the Frank J Pasquerilla Conference Center. It was a wonderful night with our MX Family. This is the first year at the Conference Center and it was a great success. Lots of room, beautify set up by Lori Slusser and her crew. The food was fantastic and the awards were many. It was so refreshing to see our many friends that we have missed since our last race this past season. Jerry did very well with his walker and director's chair. Enjoyed so many of you that stopped by and wished him future success with his new leg. Thank you all very much for your continuing support in his recovery.
Lot's of pictures of the award recipients to come but I am starting out with some misc pictures of the evening. If you are have a facebook page and our friends with Mimi Greiner, she has lots of last nights event pictures all ready up. So please check them out.
