~ THROW BACK DIARIES - 2002 & 2003 ~
~ PAMX/PAXC BANQUET DECEMBER 7, 2013 ~
While cleaning my computer files and pictures I came across some of my old Racing Diaries. Most of them are from 2002 & 2003. It seems that I must have had more time to write about the last race. (I didn't have a digital camera as yet - had to develop film and then scan to get them on the site - time, lots of time) Anyway, you might fine them interesting or maybe not.

Pennsylvania State Championship Round #6
I generally like to recall a little about the track and conditions but this week I think that I will just go straight to the moto's. No need to speak of the shorten track (one of the best sections of the hole track not used) down at the gate kayos (A and B riders going off at the same time with +40 staggered, well they did change that next moto's ) Oh yes on to the 3 lap moto's.
Quad's got the first chance to go out and smooth things over.
125A&B moto (7A&14B) really started out crazy. I know that in the past at some races that A riders and B riders have gone off the gate together but I must say that I was shocked to see them all coming down the straight away together here at BV. Just not natural here. It was like a nervous breakdown happening. This could not be, and of course again the normal section not in use did not help things. A&B riders all making that awesome jump at the spectator area at the same time made many stand back from the fence line. Hepler, Holland, Boyd and Kevin Hoge going at it down the whoop section. Lawson, Croner and White right behind them. Just was a real different mix of riders. Oh did I also mention that the + 40 A&B class was staggered and left the gate after the 125 A&B riders. Well when the 250A&B moto was up they did stagger them and the next 2nd 125&250 moto's as well.
It was good to Sean Croner and Marc Bosnic back racing and missing some of the regulars like Ritchey and Ritter who were down at Englishtown riding. Never the less a great race in both classes. A lot of bar banging and jockeying for position found some riders doing a great job in moving up thru the pack. Is there a good place to pass at BV? Maybe that far back section, not sure as a spectator goes.
With Beaver Valleys gate not a 40 man gate the 125C class had 2 groups to consi down to the final 30. And that was a squeeze at that. Standing by the fence down past the bleachers was too close. I do believe that the part of the track that was left out helps in those first crucial turns after the start to set up the flow in that back section with riders not on top of each other.
At this point I would like to send our concerns to Steven Roman (85 14-15, Open Mini) and Brian Posch (125C). These two riders suffered crucial injuries on Sunday. May your healing be quick and your return to the track and riding soon. We will miss you!
Brian Shuckhart, McGoff, Miller, Mills, Boyer, Durham, Stettmier, Roman and Coffield just a few of the fast rider in Open Mini. With Shuckhart, Durham, Miller and McGoff really going at it in the second moto.
250A had 9 riders and 250B 16. Thankfully staggered the A riders where off and coming over that jump in the center was awesome. Hepler and Holland coming over it together (2nd Moto) was breathe taking. I missed seeing the look but heard all about it from ones that did. I guess I really missed a great picture. Broc Hepler, Brandon Bradley, Gaylon Dickson, Alan Bonamo and Anthony Waugaman finishing the top five riders the first moto. And second moto top five where Hepler, Dickson, Holland, Waugaman and Bonamo. All nine A riders are great riders.
250B found Boyd right up there both moto's. Both K. Hoge's staying in the top five in the second moto. Placing in the top ten where Stevens, Savage, Miller, White, Greenwald, McAdoo and Housel.
250C had Keith McClure taking the overall with McArdle getting 1st in the 1st moto but DNF the second.
Plus 25 and College Boy went off together and it looked like an A & B class going at it. Holland, Kozma, Dickson, Lawson, and McHugh to name a few of the two classes. Lawson and Dickson going at it over near the checkers, some great racing.
School Boy with Hepler and Kromel near each other. Kronk who has moved to a 125 now doing well in this class.
Well at least it wasn't snowing and raining here today but Beaver Valley is Beaver Valley. It was good to see that the multi flora bush had been taken out and a few more bushes taken out would have helped with spectators seeing the new section. It was a difficult day for me, it seemed that Aaron was everywhere. He wasn't very fond of Beaver Valley but did like the track lay out. My screen saver on my computer is of Aaron at that jump in the center with the steam stack rising in the air from the energy plant in that area. So I see Beaver Valley every day. Beaver Valley is done and on to Steel City Round #7, (Brownsville) Hopefully the weather will be kind to you riders this week and track conditions will be excellent.
See you there, Always In Memory of Aaron #98, Arlene
