Amateur National Motocross Championships

Hurricane Mills, TN - July 31 thru August 6, 2006

by Arlene Lantzer

Kristin and Kendra took off on their trek to Loretta Lynn’s from Morgantown. Down thru the wide state of West Virginia and thru the state of Kentucky which Kristin hopes to not see again. (until next year)

Their week was full of great MX riders in all classes. They did however have a hard time in making all of the motos that had our D5 riders in them. The distance in between D5 pits and the track was a world apart if you had to walk. Thank goodness for the Durham boys and their golf cart that helped Kris and Kendra get places they needed to go. Kris was able to get some shots on a few of our D5 riders and also some of the other riders from other districts. Her pictures of Loretta’s houses and the park it self was helpful to a person that has not been there. So check out her photo account of the week.

Congratulations to ALL of our D5 riders for a great effort and placements at LL. Such dedication and talent our riders have. Kris said that the heat and humidity was unbelievable just in walking around let alone in riding for 20 minutes on a tough MX track. She is so incredibly proud of the D5 riders and their accomplishments. Out there never giving up showing what they are made of. She also says that she will never complain about the heat at any of our D5 events again.

I would also like to give a big thank you to all of the D5 families that helped Kristin and Kendra out this past week. The Zambotti family full of Big Joe, Karen, Natalie and Nichole (Nichole, Kris still wishes that you guys had gone down to the over 21 tent, maybe next year) of having the girls be apart of their family and pit area. Darryn and Shane Durham with their wonderful golf cart that saved a lot of walking and time. (Kris actually got a sunburn under her chin from the heat of the pavement when walking) Troy and Missy Herrington with the Hotel and their first trip out to the track. The Knisley’s and the Streit’s with the always open invitation if they needed anything. If any question came up in any area their answer was “To go see Jeff Cernic, he will know what to do“. Thank you Jeff for helping out the girls. The girls did not feel alone down their at all for they had their D5 families and riders all around them. Thank you D5.

Kendra thank you for the opportunity for Kristin to go. I appreciate your efforts and your safe driving (watch out for those Kentucky cows on the interstate) She will remember this trip for along time. At least till Mini O’s.

State Championships this coming Sunday at FOD, see you there.

Always In Memory of Aaron #98, Arlene
