High Point, the travel there is always the emotional one for the Lantzer’s. We have Kenny Loggins generally blasting with “Ride Like The Wind”. A song that was played many times with bike in truck/trailer and Aaron anxious to take on that new goal that he needed to accomplish at The Point. Of course we were just hoping for a good day with no bad spills and maybe a good finish that Aaron would have been pleased with. It generally took Aaron thru the practice sessions to get the butterflies out of his stomach and get that much needed feeling of balance with in his self. Once that was accomplished the day ran normally well. (well except for a few trips down to Ruby) The trips now are still filled with the expectations of the day and the wonderful friends that we are anxious to see. Kenny is still singing his heart out and my heart beat picks up a few extra beats, there’s that always searching feeling that I have looking for Aaron.

Our weekend started with meeting the Washington Coffields around 5:30 at the gate on Saturday. Wow we were first in line. Timmy came down and let the few of us that were there in and the pit area was set up. Pitting behind the bleachers by the rhythm section was perfect. Not too far from the action. Plus watching others come in. The first one that we saw was Chuck Coulson and family pulling in. Totally awesome, for the last time that we had seen him was at High Point were he had a bad spill that cause some major pain too Chuck. He has been rehabilitating his injuries in style. Going to the beach with family and having a great time. Welcome back Chuck. When watching the different families and riders pull in gets the expectations of some great racing that was going to happen the next day. Settling back with some Domino Pizza we watch as the crew finished the track preparation and the weed whacking of the jumps. The track and all around it was so beautiful. The water truck was busy putting down as much water as time would allow. This made for the air that was passing by us filled with that sweet smell of fresh dirt turned over. (not like Steel City last weekend with the fertilizer of the local farmer) Visiting with the Thomas’s, Yoest, Hines filled up the evening right up to the building of the campfire. If you have never sat around a campfire at High Point you must try it out some Saturday evening.

Sunday morning and many pulling in for the day. Sign ups didn’t seem to be too much of await. The Ladies in the building truly know how too keep the line moving. I was able to get some new pens and stickers over too riders registration for all to take and was very pleased to find that nearly all but a few magnets were gone. I will be looking for those stickers and getting a picture or two. Practice got off on time and the day was on its way.

First moto was the 125A/B classes. Stevie Roman and Anthony Marisa shared the coveted hole shot with the 2 motos. Stevie took the overall with a very impressive ride. In the 125B Class of 33 riders In McCue took the hole shot in the first moto and stayed right up there right down the rhythm section and into the whoops. Behind him was Hess, Moran, Chapman, Hines and Lehman. In the second moto Joey Zambotti had the hole shot with a good distance from Grimes, Hines, Lehman and Paris. Joey and Kirk Hines had an awesome run. The race was one of me and my shadow. The two after hooking up after Hines got around Lehman was awesome. What a race! The 250 A/B Class Moto’s was not unlike the 125 moto’s. Nearly the same very talented riders. The A Class had an extra 2 riders of Stevie Crowe and J.R. Strosnider. Anthony Marisa again took a hole shot away from the others in this 1st moto with Marks, Roman, Ursic, Strosnider and Crowe. Second moto had Stevie Roman taking the hole shot and again the overall 1st. In the 250B Classes which had 19 riders the 1st moto the hole shot was taken by Kirk Hines with Smalley, Kovach, Zambotti, Lehman, Chapman and Earlywine right behind him. Kirk has been out with a wrist injury and it was great having him back out on the track. What a day Kirk did have.

The 250C 1st moto started out with McKenzie taking the hole shot with Ackerson, Liston, Keener, Forlai and Guyan right behind. The Women class again had a good group of 6 riders with Green getting the hole shot in the 1st moto. Mimi Greiner was taking the second place and in front of Marra.

So many good match ups in today’s 17 moto’s. A great time at High Point and I’m already anxious for Vet Nationals and State Championships coming up. Next weekend is the last of the “Spring Series” race at PVR so hope to see you all there if all goes well.

Always In Memory of Aaron #98, Arlene
